Shawn atleo biography: A Hereditary Chief from the Ahousaht
He earned his undergraduate degree at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. As an adult, Atleo became an activist for the rights of First Nations in Canada. He was re-elected for a second term on July 19,in the third round of voting at the AFN's leadership convention. He was the first university chancellor appointed in the province's history who was of Aboriginal heritage.

Canada, being a young country, is a work in progress, in fact, a successor state, and has a responsibility to uphold treaties that were made with First Nations before Canada was even formed.
